COVID-19 showed us more than ever how important it is to bring people together. On the back of the success of our Junior Lawyer Virtual Lunches and Senior In-house Counsel Sessions, we will be hosting our first ever Northern In-house Event next month, in collaboration with LexisNexis.

Aimed at all professional levels within in-house teams, from paralegals to GC’s, this event will bring together an array of teams from across the thriving Northern in-house legal community.

This isn’t one to miss - book your place below!

Bringing on New Talent/The Flexible Approach - Mary Bonsor

We’ve secured a fantastic selection of speakers on a range of topics, starting with a talk on Bringing on New Talent/The Flexible Approach. As we emerge from the pandemic, more and more organisations are looking at how they manage a hybrid approach to working, with 40% of employers expecting that more than half of their workforce will work regularly from home, according to the CIPD’s ‘Embedding new ways of working’ report. Flex Legal CEO, Mary Bonsor, will be sharing her extensive insights from the in-house legal market as to how this is being achieved and the benefits of doing so, for both employers and employees.

Mental Health and Wellbeing in Law - Gemma Farina and Susan Lamb

We then have the wonderful Gemma Farina, Assistant GC at Capital One, and Susan Lamb, Managing Counsel at Shell, who are both LawCare Champions, delivering a talk on the realities of Mental Health and Wellbeing in Law. In LawCare’s latest ‘Life in the Law’ study, 69% of participants reported that they had experienced mental ill health in the last 12 months, and only 56% of these talked about their issues at work. Gemma and Susan will go through these startling figures and their recommendations for what measures employers can put in place to combat this crisis.

Key Skills to Succeed - Dan Kayne and Katie Barker

To finish, Dan Kayne, GC at Network Rail, and Katie Barker, Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, will present on Key Skills to Succeed. Dan, as Founder of the O Shaped Lawyer, and Katie, as a member of the group, will talk through their innovative programme which aims to promote cultural change, placing people and human behaviours at the heart of a more modern, progressive legal profession.

Closing Q&A

To finish the event, we'll give our attendees the opportunity to ask any questions in a closing Q&A.
