It is time to shine the spotlight once again on one of our stand-out paralegals. This time, we were delighted to have a chat with Diana, an LLB graduate who moved to the UK at the age of 8 gaining interest in the legal industry after witnessing the time, care and dedication that solicitors provide to their clients. Through Flex, Diana was given the incredible opportunity to work with Magic Circle Law firm, Freshfields. Here’s what she has to say about her experience...
Hi Diana! Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?
Hello, my name is Diana, an LLB graduate and a SQE1 candidate. I moved to the UK at the age of 8, not speaking any English. Alongside my studies, my experience into the world of law started at Citizens Advice.It's been a journey filled with growth, from overcoming language barriers to learning the legal system. And now, as I embark on the next chapter of my legal career, I'm more motivated than ever to make a difference in the field.
How did you first become interested in working in law?
My passion for law arose unexpectedly at the age of 12, following a car accident. Though not severe, it required a solicitor. Through this experience, we formed a connection with our solicitor, who went above and beyond to aid us. Witnessing her dedication to help others sparked a desire within me to make a similar impact in people's lives.Specifically, I was drawn to specialising in personal injury law, driven by the desire to provide the same level of care and support that we received during that time. Since that, I have been introduced to more areas of laws and have a new-found interest in commercial law.
Could you tell us about your experience of working through Flex Legal?

Where are you currently working?
I am currently working at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, through the help of Flex Legal. As an aspiring commercial solicitor, it has been super interesting to get an insight into a commercial firm. Working within a team of like-minded, motivated people has been amazing. During my time here, I've had the privilege of being exposed to fascinating cases, allowing me to deepen my understanding of commercial law. Additionally, I've had the opportunity to refine my attention to detail and document review skills. Overall, it's been a valuable experience that blends practical learning with my passion for commercial law.What advice would you give to those looking to get into paralegal work?
To any aspiring solicitors or young professionals who have an interest in working as a paralegal, don’t give up! Law is a very competitive field but don’t be discouraged. During my interview stages I have learned that being yourself is highly valued.
