Typing up audio files in both employment law and family law.

Helping with filing, collating bundles, proofreading documents and helping with general administrative duties.

Legal Project Manager

Centre For Human Development | Dec 20 - Now

Centre for Human Development (CHD) is a women-led organisation working to deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 in the UK. CHD specialises in providing support to the BAME community.

My role as the Legal Project Manager was to oversee two other volunteers and produce accessible information for our beneficiaries. Legislation is often difficult to understand; my role is to rewrite it in a way laymen can understand, making it accessible to our beneficiaries.

I chose to focus on four areas of law, namely employment, family, tenancy agreements and eviction and lastly, immigration and the effect of Brexit.

I also hosted virtual workshops called 'Free Start-Up Sessions for Women Entrepreneurs' and gained an insight into becoming a successful entrepreneur. This has improved my confidence in speaking in front of a camera.

Interacted with clients of John Brisby QC. Gained confidence when talking in these situations and was kindly encouraged to do so my the QC I was shadowing.

This is the work experience that first exposed me to the law environment and one of the experiences that encouraged me to pursue a career in law.

Organisational Skills: In charge of accounts, taking orders and stock counts. Rearranged study routine for the LPC to working in the evenings and weekends.

Interpersonal Skills: Managed the phone. Often customers wanted someone to talk to as lockdown was a very lonely and unsettling time for them, especially if they had no family nearby.
