I am currently working as a Junior Legal Engineer at SYKE. SYKE is a fast growing legal engineering business helping in-house legal teams and law firms to buy and implement legal technology. As a junior at SYKE, I have a very varied workload. I automate legal documents using a variety of different platforms. I have also had the chance to work on developing a legal chatbot and have recently began developing my contract lifecycle management knowledge.

As part of my role I have to: - report on competitor insights - market and distribute material - promote events - advance data capture through online and campus promotions

I have completed work placements as a Paralegal at Freshfields a number of times. This has enabled me to use my problem-solving and innovative thinking skills on delegated tasks from large-scaled litigation cases. The intellectually challenging work was varied and each day brought new challenges. I worked on cases which required me to have good attention to detail, I successfully and carefully analysed files and organised data.

I gained great experience as I assisted counsel by standing in and attending the high court in order to make clear notes of complex proceedings, I also met with clients and successfully participated in a post-hearing brief. It was great to see the law in action. An understanding of the way the courts work is important to all aspects of legal practice. The experience has allowed me to make more well-rounded critical arguments about statutes and precedents.

Working as a team is imperative in the workplace, everybody has different experiences and areas of specialisation, when people can productively collaborate with others the outcome can be spectacular. Working with Syft has allowed me to develop many different skills, I have been able to learn how to guide team members towards meeting goals and objectives. I have learned how to share leadership through delegation and I have utilised my negotiation skills in order to resolve conflicts.
