It offered a real ‘hands-on’ experience throughout my 5 cases which included legal issues of housing, immigration, employment contracts, data protection, and false misrepresentation.
I was able to close five successful claims and provide an advisory role to a further seven clients. I was delighted to
learn that through our dedication to cases, the clinic’s caseload had also increased by 15%, and I had received the highest mark in the year for my case evaluations.
This has allowed for the development of my soft legal skills, such as written/oral communication and management, and advanced my knowledge of the advice-giving process.

- Providing legal advice
- Reviewing legal documents to be sent to court and other parties for the client.
- Interviewing Clients and Client Meetings

Editor
Bristol Law Review | Sep 18 - Aug 19
The Law Review has provided me with the long-term benefit of engaging with the law as an academic pursuit. I have learnt to appreciate the stylistic and mechanical aspects of writing in order to produce concise and persuasive prose. It has been instrumental in expanding my knowledge of the law beyond the curriculum by providing me with a greater insight into topical, current events in the UK and wider world. As a member of the editorial team, we have been committed to finding innovative ways to widen the reach of the review through online platforms. Meanwhile, remaining committed to producing a high-quality publication that promotes student voice, an undervalued and beneficial resource that is often overlooked in higher education.
Through collaboration with other editors as well as faculty and student authors, I was able to successfully publish the principle issue of the Review. Additionally, I spearheaded the new online platform to make the Review more accessible (raising readership by 15%).
General Secretary
Lawyers Without Borders Student Division | May 17 - Aug 19
I am an active member of the Bristol student branch of Lawyers Without Borders. My title entails an organisational role whereby I have control over communications, bookings and media correspondence for the society. However, all members of the committee also play a key role in raising awareness of human rights controversies, contribute to research projects, fundraise for the charity and take part in our debate competitions. I played a core role in raising the club’s profile by 30%, by planning, promoting and executing a debate competition for 40 students. Overall, we have increased awareness for this new society and brought human rights law to the forefront of discussion at Bristol as part of the wider international network of Lawyers Without Borders.
Food and Beverage Assistant and Young Team Leader
The Burley Manor | May 18 - Sep 18
Throughout my education, I have waitressed at 4* hotels with increased responsibility often managing the floor and junior staff; key holder; promoted the stock to increase profit margins; handled stock take, money and
customer transactions to provide excellent service for the restaurant, as well as additional weddings and banquets. Gained insight into the workings of a successful business, that was in the process of expanding its operations.
My manager recognised that I had an aptitude for training the junior staff members due to my high level of professionalism, yet approachable manner. As such, the new role of Young Team Leader was created for me. I enjoyed proactively engaging with new team members, building their confidence and allowing them to excel in their work. Leading this small team came naturally to me and I attribute this in part to my previous leadership experiences; Sports Leader where I delivered weekly P.E. lessons to young children and Prefect where I frequently headed council meetings to discuss student concerns.
Waitress
The Burley Inn | Feb 14 - Mar 18
Barmaid / Waitress in a busy pub involved effective interaction with other colleagues across all levels. I worked here throughout school and college alongside my studies for 12 - 15 hours a week, with an increase to 36 hours in the holidays. As a keen team player, I often covered shifts at short notice and time constraints taught me how best to deal with meeting deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining a high-quality service. Usually understaffed, it was essential to work efficiently and prioritise a workload. I was able to manage this commitment whilst still produce excellent grades at GCSE and A-Level.
